In 1985, age 45 years, Duff was imprisoned for 2 years for sexual offences against 4 boys between the ages of 13 and 15 years and abusive images of boys were found at his home. He had a prior conviction in 1969 for similar offences. Convicted in Croydon, he was rehoused in Islington on release from prison hostel and lived close to the Hot House in Hornsey Road. Islington Police investigated allegations against him in the early 90s but this led to no prosecution. There was no further investigation and attempts to investigate were suppressed.

Conference expressed grave concern at Mr Duff a known paedophile who has a number of children going in and out of his house. There is a lot of worry and suspicion that he is abusing children including younger ones. This situation should be investigated under the guidelines as a previous brothel is being repeated in this area. A joint social service police investigation should be reconvened.
